Pet adoption events in Rockwall this weekend – Yahoo News

Dec. 9—Rockwall families looking to share their homes with a new canine or feline friend will have at least two opportunities this weekend to meet animals eager to find their own “fur-ever homes. ”
Rockwall Animal Adoption Center plans to bring about 12 dogs in order to the Rockwall Family Fun Day “Skate the Lake” event at The Harbor Rockwall Saturday, which will run from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m.
“For the entirety of this particular year, we’ve stayed in about 98% capacity. As soon as we find a home for one dog or cat, we get three or even four more. It’s been kind of insane, ” said Billie Jean Hedrick along with the adoption center.
“We want in order to encourage people to adopt because, unfortunately, some individuals look down on shelter pets, almost like they see them as used cars, ” Hedrick stated. “True, the animals come from all kinds of life experiences, but that doesn’t mean these people don’t need a home. inch
In addition to the particular adoption event in the Harbor, Oak Hill Animal Rescue (OHAR) will host its regular weekend break adoption occasion at the rescue’s Rockwall location at 919 I-30 East, Suites 126 and 127.
On Saturdays and Sundays, OHAR transports the animals they’re fostering from their facility in Seagoville to their Rockwall location.
OHAR’s regular hours are 11: 30 the. m. to 3 g. m. on Saturdays and noon in order to 3 l. m. upon Sundays.
In an effort to help prospective adopters make a decision about which cat or dog to take in, OHAR provides bios on each animal to provide them with a good idea of the animal’s history.
“These bios are attached to their crates in the ownership center so people can read about them and know their background, adoption fee, age, et. al, inches OHAR Executive Director Bettye Baker mentioned. “If they will (the prospective adopter) express interest plus pass the qualifications, they’re provided our application.
“We do vet reference checks to make sure of their vetting history (with any pets the particular applicant already has) and we also do home visits to approve the environment, ” Baker added. “We also carry out a meet and greet with their particular dog if they have one. ”
In the cases of both adoption occasions, on the Harbor and at OHAR, the dogs and cats are all spayed, neutered and current on the vaccinations.
